Job Description

As Telecom & Cloud VOIP Solutions Lead, you will be joining our fast-growing IT & Telecoms division at Griffin & Sage. You will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of our hosted VOIP solutions for UK-based SMEs. This includes technical leadership, solution design, team management, service quality, compliance, and business development.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight:

  • Lead the design and deployment of cloud-hosted VOIP infrastructure, including SIP trunking and hosted PBX.

  • Build scalable telecom solutions suitable for SMEs and multi-site clients.

  • Ensure all systems are secure, reliable, and compliant with UK telecom regulations and GDPR.

Client Services:

  • Oversee technical support and onboarding processes for new VOIP clients.

  • Act as the primary technical contact for strategic accounts and major deployments.

  • Collaborate with clients to assess telecom needs and propose custom solutions.

Team & Technical Leadership:

  • Build and lead a team of network engineers and VOIP specialists.

  • Mentor junior staff and ensure knowledge sharing across the team.

  • Oversee team workload, project delivery, and performance targets.

Financial & Strategic Management:

  • Take P&L ownership of the Telecom division, reporting on performance and growth metrics.

  • Collaborate with the Director on pricing, vendor management, and cost control.

  • Identify and execute opportunities for revenue growth and product expansion.

Technology & Systems:

  • Design and manage secure VOIP systems using Cisco, Microsoft, or similar platforms.

  • Interface with key vendors and partners (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Microsoft).

  • Keep current with telecom trends, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all deployments meet Ofcom, GDPR, and data protection standards.

  • Implement and maintain quality control protocols for all telecom services.

Marketing & Business Development:

  • Support the marketing and sales teams in shaping telecom product offerings.

  • Engage in presales engineering where needed to win new business.

  • Contribute to go-to-market strategy, proposals, and technical sales content.

 

Person Specification

  • 10+ years of experience in VOIP, telecoms, or unified communications

  • Strong technical expertise in hosted telephony platforms and SIP infrastructure

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Call Manager, Webex, ISR, ASA, VLANs, and QoS

  • Strong leadership skills and experience building technical teams

  • Excellent communication and client-facing abilities

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and client demands

  • Certifications in Cisco, Juniper, Microsoft Voice, or similar are highly desirable

  • Experience in UK telecoms (international experience a plus)
