Senior Manager

As Senior Manager, you will be joining a thriving accountancy practice. You will be responsible for the operational side of the business, client services, staff management, work flow and task management, financial management, compliance and quality assurance, technology and systems, marketing and business development, training and professional development and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight:

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the accountancy practice.
  • Training and mentoring of staff
  • Reviewing work produced by junior staff members (alongside the responsible Directors)
  • Timely delivery of year end accounts, tax returns and VAT returns.
  • Efficient workflow management and effective utilisation of resources

Client Services:

  • Act as point of contact for clients, addressing enquiries, and ensuring exceptional client service
  • Monitor client satisfaction and implement improvements as needed.

Staff Management:

  • Supervise and lead a team of accountants, bookkeepers, and administrative staff
  • Conduct regular performance reviews (alongside the responsible Directors), provide feedback, and facilitate professional development.

Workflow & Task Management:

  • Allocate work assignments and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ensure timely completion of projects and deliverables

Financial Management:

  • Collaborate with the firm’s Director to develop and manage the practice’s budget
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the practice adheres to all regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to uphold service excellence

Technology & Systems:

  • Oversee the implementation and utilisation of accounting software and other technology tools
  • Stay informed about advancements in technology relevant to the accountancy field

Marketing & Business Development:

  • Collaborate with Partners to develop and implement marketing strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for business growth and client acquisition

Training and Professional Development:

  • Facilitate training sessions for staff to enhance technical and soft skills
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess potential risks to the practice and implement mitigation strategies
  • Monitor compliance with risk management policies

Person Specification

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Qualified Accountant with knowledge of accounting principles and industry regulations
  • Familiarity with accounting software and technology tools
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
